Dr. Gordon A. Taylor “Gordy”
I have been affiliated with Western Illinois University in Macomb for over 55 year: First as an undergraduate, College of Business faculty member, Director of Alumni Programs, Associate Vice-President of Alumni/Development, and finally as Director of Special Projects. Four times a year, a publication “The Western News” was distributed to alumni and friends in which I wrote a column. Currently, I host a local TV program called “Macomb on the Move” interviewing people in leadership roles throughout the community. Previously, while at WIU, I interviewed over 250 individuals in one-hour vignettes who had an association with the university including faculty, administrators, alumni, and Western presidents entitled “Across the Mile.” At the urging of friends, I began a blog reflecting my views of life, various events, and milestones.
I grew up in Galena and Hinsdale, received my Ph.D. in Management at the University of Florida, and have lived in Macomb since 1970. Diane and I met on a blind date on April 1, 1967, and been married almost 53 years. Our three adult kids are Jennifer (John), Gordon III (Lisa), and Ryan (Margaret) who have provided us with 6 grandchildren.
